"George's War"

World War II Coast Guard combat vet George Mills stands beside his display "George's War" charting his assignments as a coxswain for Landing craft from the Aleutian Islands to Pacific theater of action during World War Two. George is in the Ward Room of the historic Coast Guard Cutter COMANCHE WMEC 202 where there is a Coast Guard in World War Two display. As USN ATA 202, COMANCHE saw combat in the invasion of Okinawa in May 1945 for which she received a Battle Star. George is 93. Comanche is 70 years old in October and has been open to the public at the Bremerton Marina, Bremerton, WA since May. She is still operational and will head for Tacoma under her own power in October for the winter.
