USCGC Comanche Foundation 70th Anniversary

Welcome aboard for a celebration of our ship’s 70th launch date7 years a non-profit historic naval ship this October 10th 2014 from 1700 to 1900

USN ATA 202/WMEC 202 COMANCHE hit the water 70 years ago and we are celebrating with pizza  and refreshments as well as cake and ice cream, on board COMANCHE at the Bremerton Marina, down town Bremerton,  followed by an awards presentation of tokens of our appreciation to those who have made COMANCHE go this past year and a half.  Come and met the all volunteer crew of today, supporters and hear all about COMANCHE and the future it holds in Bremerton, WA.  Met some of the other historic ships crews as well.  Park for free in the Bremerton Marina parking lot (get a parking permit from us when you arrive.)

Then, the next day, Saturday, Oct 11th , about 1030 we intend to cruise to Tacoma’s Foss Waterway public dock in the 500 block of Dock Street East to disembark riders prior to heading for our winter mooring at the Tyee Marina, east of Tacoma.  Riders are welcome!  There is no charge for either event but donation$ are cherished and greatly appreciated.  The voyage is one way, however, so make your own arrangements back or take public express bus to Seattle and the Seattle-Bremerton ferry back to the Bremerton Marina.

Last day to EXPLORE COMANCHE in Bremerton for 2014 is Friday, October 10 from 1000 to 1700.  The ship will be open for our South Puget Sound supporters to explore the ship Saturday afternoon in Tacoma in the early to mid-afternoon at Foss Waterway.  Eta Tacoma is sometime in the mid-afternoon… we take our time with no set schedule.  Ships phone Saturday, Oct 11th is (253) 227-9678.  Comanche will be at the Rock the Dock public dock on the Foss Waterway a couple of hours for lunch.Riders should be aboard Saturday Oct 11th  by 1000.  Dress for the weather.  Bring your own eats and drinks (alcohol ok)  All riders must sign a “hold harmless” before riding on the ship.  Bring your cameras!  Lawn chairs welcome.  No pets.  Comanche is not handicap accessible.  COMANCHE 202 FOUNDATION is a Federally recognized 501 (c) 3 non-profit since Sept 11, 2007.
