August 19, 2015 - SPS Cantabria currently integrated into the counter-terrorist Operation Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean Sea, has just become the first Spanish Navy oiler to supply fuel to three ships simultaneously.
During the alongside connected replenishment maneuver, Cantabria supplied fuel to the Spanish frigate Santa María from the port side, to the Royal Canadian Navy frigate Winnipeg from starboard and the German frigate Hamburg astern.
The simultaneous replenishment at sea (RAS) of three warships in the course of a real multinational operation, is a clear example of the excellent capabilities of Cantabria and the outstanding training level of her crew.
In just one month integrated into operation Active Endeavor, Cantabria has conducted 32 RAS with the two NATO standing Maritime Groups operating in the area, supplying 4,500,000 liters of fuel to allied ships from 8 different nations.
Cantabria, commissioned in 2010, is under the command of Cdr. Javier Roca and will remain integrated into the SNMG-2 until the end of August.
