Nordic Bremen ship Nordic Bremen collided with the German frigate Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Kiel Canal. The collision happened in bad weather at strong gusty wind, causing serious damages of the both vessels. The container ship Nordic Bremen is breached in the starboard bow area and had two broken containers, while the German frigate has broken bow with some breaches above the waterline. Both vessels remained afloat, but will need of repairs before resume operations. The container ship Nordic Bremen proceeded by own power to Kiel, while frigate Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was escorted by three naval tugs to Brunsbuettel. The local authorities will investigate the root cause of the accident and will hold inspection of the cargo ship before return in operations.
