The Project 971 submarine Kuzbass was laid down on July 28, 1991 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, launched on May 18, 1992 and joined the Pacific Fleet on February 5, 1993. The Kuzbass was on combat alert mission in the Pacific and Northern Oceans.
A consortium of Rosneft, Rosneftegaz and Gazprombank implements the project of Zvezda shipyard in the Far East of Russia at the request of the President of the Russian Federation. The project will have a significant multiplier effect on the economy of the region.
