Farewell ARC "Quitasueño" after 33 Years

November 9, 2016 - In military ceremony presided by Mr. Admiral Evelio Ramirez Gafaro, Commander of the Naval Force of the Caribbean, was disabled Ship ARC "Quitasueño", after serving 48 years of life, 33 of which was in the service of the Navy National.

This unit, built in 1968 by the shipyard Peterson Builders Corporation and dubbed "Welch" was assigned to the Naval Base San Diego, United States, and in 1983 was acquired by the Navy, taking the name "Quitasueño" in honor of one of the keys that make up the archipelago of San Andres and Providencia.

Later, in 1998, the Institution allocated Naval ship it as instruction and training for Grumetes Naval NCO School ARC "Barranquilla" directed at present by Captain William Suescún Ortiz.
During his 33 years of service to the Navy, the ship ARC "Quitasueño" sailed 111,342 nautical miles along the Caribbean coast of Colombia, contributing to the integral formation of the Naval NCOs serving the country and the protection of the Nation .
